Practitioner Who Killed Woman in Botched
Abortion Faces Lawsuit, Indictment
March 21, 2008 Hyannis, MA -- The
Massachusetts abortion practitioner who
killed a woman last year in a botched legal
abortion is facing a lawsuit from her mother
and a possible indictment from officials.
Rapin Osathanondh gave up his medical
license permanently last month and now he
faces more repercussions from the failed
abortion.
Osathanondh did the abortion on 22-year-old
Laura Smith, who died in September at his
Women's Health Center abortion business.
Eileen Smith, Laura's mother, filed a
wrongful death lawsuit against Osathanondh
in Barnstable Superior Court .
Attorney David Angueira said the abortion
practitioner failed to properly monitor
Laura following the abortion while she was
still under the effects of anesthesia. ::

Abortion Clinic Linked to Rape Cover-Up
A Connecticut clinic that
performed three abortions on a 14-year-old
failed to report the pregnancies were the
result of statutory rape, The Associated
Press reported.
Police in New London charged 22-year-old
Kevon Walker with second-degree sexual
assault only after the girl’s mother
contacted them.
Walker, free on a $50,000 bond, is
prohibited from having contact with the
young teen.
Just last week, a teen sued an Ohio Planned
Parenthood clinic for failing to report
years of sexual abuse by her father.

Planned
Parenthood Sued over Failure to Report
Teen’s Incest Pregnancy
CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 16, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com)
- An Ohio teenager has launched a lawsuit
against Planned Parenthood affiliates in
Cincinnati for failing to report to
authorities that she was a victim of incest,
Cybercast News Service reported earlier
today.
Filed May ninth, the suit claims that when
the girl--who cannot be named--sought an
abortion in 2004 at the age of 16, she told
staff with Planned Parenthood of Southwest
Ohio that she had been raped by her own
father and that the sexual assaults had been
occurring since 2000, when she was 12 years
old.
The girl accuses Planned Parenthood staff of
violating Ohio law by failing to report the
situation to authorities, a failure which
then led to another 18 months of abuse. She
is seeking $25,000 in damages

Abortion
Clinic Sued for Posing as a Pro-Life Crisis
Pregnancy Center
WHITE PLAINS, NY, (LifeSiteNews.com) -
Expectant Mother Care-EMC FrontLine
Pregnancy Centers filed suit against "Dr.
Emily's" abortion clinic with sites in the
Bronx and downtown Brooklyn citing evidence
of deceptive advertising practices.
"EMC is taking the lead in countering a
truly deceptive abortion advertiser which
pretends to be an alternative to abortion
agency advertising under pro-life ad
categories in New York City yellow pages,"
said Chris Slattery, founder and president
of EMC, operator of 15 pro-life crisis
pregnancy counseling centers and medical
clinics in New York City and suburbs.

Stop
coercive abortions
A pregnant 19-year-old is kidnapped by her
parents, who tie her up, load her into the
car and take her to an abortion clinic
against her will. A boyfriend stabs his
girlfriend who is carrying his child because
she refused to have a abortion. Out of fear,
the girl submits to an abortion.
Heartbreaking stories like these, involving
women who are coerced into having abortions,
are becoming all too common. In 2004, the
Medical Science Monitor reported the results
of a study of American post-abortive women.
Sixty-five percent felt pressured by others
to have an abortion through financial,
relational or emotional threats.

Alabama closes Birmingham abortion clinic
after multiple violations; ...
WASHINGTON (BP)--The state of Alabama has
shut down a Birmingham abortion clinic for
numerous infractions, including giving RU
486 to a woman late in her pregnancy.
Alabama’s State Board of Health suspended
the license of Summit Medical Center May 17
after following up on a complaint that
clinic personnel inaccurately told a woman
in February she was only six weeks pregnant
and gave her the abortion-inducing drug,
after which she delivered a stillborn child
who weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces.

African-
American Babies On Decline As More Abortions
Performed On Black Women.
The Washington Post has a story on a census
report which discusses the race of children
under the age of five. The census found that
45% of Americans under the age of five are
members of a racial/ethnic minority compared
to 33% of America's total population.
However, the chart at the bottom of the page
shows that black children under five
represent only 4% of the population younger
than 5 even though African-Americans
represent 13% of America's total population.
While other minority groups like Asians and
Hispanics have a much higher percentage in
the under 5 population, African-Americans
have a much lower percentage.
Where are all the black children? They've
been aborted. According to the Centers for
Disease Control, 36.6% of U.S. abortions
performed in 2002 were performed on Black
women. This percentage has held fairly
steady since the early 1990's...:

Unborn Now
Have Voice, Say Supporters of New Ala. Law
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Supporters of Alabama's
new legislation that recognizes two victims
instead of one when a pregnant woman is
assaulted or killed say it gives the unborn
a voice.
A Citronelle couple, Tim and Sharon
Helveston, were among families who
successfully pushed the Alabama Legislature
to approve the bill, which Gov. Bob Riley
signed into law on Monday. The
Helvestons became victim activists after the
2002 car crash death of their daughter,
Wendy Sullivan, a nurse and mother of two
young girls who was pregnant with another
girl, who died...
The bill is called the "Brody Act" in memory
of the unborn son of 23-year-old Brandy
Parker of Albertville. Parker was eight
months pregnant when she was shot and killed
on July 27, 2005.
The legislation will go into effect July 1
and can't be used retroactively.

Eighth Medical Organization Acknowledges
Abortion Breast Cancer Link
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Another
medical organization has gone on record as
acknowledging that a link exists between
induced abortion and breast cancer. The
Philippine Foundation for Breast Care wrote
a letter to the Coalition on Abortion/Breast
Cancer, a woman's group that monitors
information about the link, saying that it
exists.
Cristina Santos, MD, president of PFBCI,
wrote that the board of directors and
members of her group recognize that the link
exists.
"[W]e acknowledge the abortion and breast
cancer link based on the physiologic changes
in the breast lobules of a woman who chose
to deliberately interrupt her pregnancy
(induced abortion) and the risk for breast
cancer this will pose to that woman," Dr.
Santos wrote.
...Malec explained that during the first two
trimesters of pregnancy, the hormone,
estrogen -- a recognized carcinogen --
increases dramatically and stimulates
cancer-vulnerable Types 1 and 2 breast
lobules to multiply, thereby causing breast
growth.:
